Licence keys and accounts

Planning Constraints is built around a licence key, not a user account. This page explains what that means in practice, and when you do (and don't) need to sign in.

The licence key is the identity​

When you buy a Site Report Pass or subscribe to Pro, you get a licence key — shown on screen right after checkout, and emailed to you as part of your purchase confirmation. That key is what unlocks paid features, on whichever device you enter it on. There's no username or password required to use it.

  • A Site Report Pass licence covers one address for 30 days.
  • A Pro licence covers unlimited addresses for as long as the subscription is active, and works on multiple devices — office desktop, laptop, phone on site — with the same key.

To activate a key on a new device, or recover it if you've lost the email, use Activate Licence (/upgrade/activate) and enter the key, or request a magic link to your purchase email address.

Accounts are optional — and add memory​

You do not need an account to use the free checker or to buy and use a Site Report Pass or Pro subscription. An account, when you create one, adds:

  • A record of your key so you don't have to re-enter it on every device.
  • Sign-in via password, a magic-link email, or both, with optional two-factor authentication (an authenticator app plus backup codes) for extra security.
  • Access to saved sites, watches, and (if you're on one) a shared Team or Practice workspace.

Team is the only plan that requires an account — a shared workspace needs somewhere to attach individual sign-ins to, which is the whole point of Team (so you can see who changed what, rather than everyone sharing one login). The free checker and the Site Report Pass stay completely account-free by design.

Signing in​

Go to /signin. You can:

  • Sign in with a password.
  • Request a magic link emailed to you instead — no password to remember.
  • Sign up for a new account from the same screen.
  • Reset a forgotten password — the reset link expires after an hour.
  • If you've turned on two-factor authentication, you'll be asked for a code from your authenticator app (or a saved backup code) after your password or magic link succeeds.

Using Pro on more than one device​

Yes — your licence key activates any device. Enter it once per device via Activate Licence, or sign in to an account that has the key attached and it follows you automatically.
